I have been offered something that belongs to one of my few high-end Soldbuecher, so something has to go to finance it. I am offering a super Soldbuch that was issued to Rudolf Klossek on 28 August 1939 by Panzer Abwehr Abteilung 218. At the time, Klossek was a Leutnant, but eventually attained the rank of Major. After serving with 1./Panzer Abwehr Abteilung 28, he was posted to 2./Panzer Abwehr Abteilung 236, 1./Panzer-Jaeger Abteilung 122, 1./schnelle Abteilung 122, and the Stab (Headquarters) of Panzer-Jaeger Abteilung 122. Soldbuch has a detailed clothing and equipment issuance page, which gives one a good picture of what officer's were issued. It also has a relatively rare paste-in information sheet concerning how to prevent machine pistol (Mp 38 and 40) ammunition jams. Beyond receiving the Fuehrergeschenk, Klossek received the following awards during his lengthy service: Clasp for the Iron Cross 2nd Class (31.10.40 - awarded by 162nd I.D.)Iron Cross 1st Class Assault BadgeWound Badge in Black (1.5.42)Eastern Front Medal (3.7.42)Tank Destruction Badge (4.12.42)German Cross in Gold (20.4.43)Wound Badge in Silver (10.8.44Close Combat Clasp in Bronze (15.12.44)Major Klossek ended up fighting with the 122nd Infantry Division in Kurland, where I assume he was severely wounded and transported back to Germany. After more than five years of war, Klossek died on 4 May 1945 and was buried in Bielefeld-Buschkamp according to the German War Graves Commision Web site. This is an oustanding Soldbuch with lots of attributes and many, many entries. If you're looking for just one Soldbuch for a DKiG recipient, this is a good choice. This was an officer who wasn't sitting around, but vying for the Ritterkeuz, and even single-handedly knocked out a Russian tank. German Crosses in Gold are bringing $3,000 - $5,000 these days, but here's your chance to own the Soldbuch of one of the recipients for less. I am asking $2,200, which includes domestic postage and PayPal fees. If interested, e-mail me at Feldpost@aol.com or send me a PM.
