I would like ask for a help. I found this item, you can see on the pictures, with ca. measurements. I think it was a ballistic cap for any kind of >15cm hauben granate. The nose piece is from aluminium the other part was made from steel. Have you got somebody an idea about this item? Thanks in advance.
It my be a (fragmentized) nose part of the German HE Shell (10,5 or 15 cm), which was explode (some) army engineers (possible - after the end of WWII ?)... It"s true- Aluminium device is a bottom\base of FUSE Ez a német HE héj (széttöredezett) orrrésze, amelyet néhány hadsereg mérnöke felrobbant (lehetséges a második világháború vége után). Igaz - az alumínium készülék biztosíték ...
Sorry for the bad photos. I know the fuse isn't in the ballistic cap, there was a wood extension rod between the aluminium nose piece and the fuse. Maybe it was a 21cm Wgr.42. Sprgr ballistic cap?!
I think the aluminium piece isn't a part of the fuse because it hasn't an inner thread and it hasnt small holes for the centrifugal segments.
What kind of photo should i make to more informative image or what kind of info need to recognise this item?
, It hasn't got a leftover thread. The total length of this item is about 160-170mm. How long the ballistic cap of the 21cm Wgr.42 Sprgr?
