Для владеющих гугл переводчиком: These binoculars were made in by China's oldest optical manufacturer, Yunnan Optical factory, founded in 1936 and situated in Haikou Town, Kunming, Yunnan Province. In the Chinese economic boom of the 1990's, the firm became "Yunnan North Optical & Electron Group Co., Ltd" and expanded into all forms of advanced opto-electronics ,this company and China's Southwestern Yunnan province in general therefore being the "cradle of Chinese optics." ( For further information visit the company's website.) But for many years there was no binocular production at all in China. The civil war devastated the country's industry and the new People's Republic from 1949, in order to equip its armed forces and for other essential uses, had to depend upon its socialist allies for supplies of binoculars and precision optics, an important supplier being the East German DDR. The Yunnan Optical "Panda" 8 x 30 represents an important milestone, being the first home-produced Chinese glass made in significant numbers post-1949. It is thought to have been launched in the early 1980's, officially on the home domestic market. But the fact that it cost the equivalent of a full year's wages for the average Chinese worker put it beyond the reach of all but high government officials and other privileged individuals. Very few were seen outside China, those examples that did being purchased by rare Western visitors to the country at foreign currency shops in the larger cities and at airports. The Panda is a very well-made glass, based to a great extent on military technology and built to be robust enough to withstand the harsh conditions of the China of that era. The glasses are heavy for a 8 x 30, built around a tough alloy frame with mostly metal components. Proof of its military origins is the slight orange hue of the optics, well known to enthusiasts of Eastern Bloc military binoculars, caused by the inclusion of radiation-resistant flint glass components, meant to give survivability on the nuclear battlefield, gamma rays fogging conventional glass optics. The glasses have deep blue full coatings and an impressive 8.5 deg wide-angle of viewing. They produce a sharp, flat image with excellent edge definition, proof once more of their military origins. For full specification please see copy of leaflet included in photos.
