Хочу поділитися сумною звісткою - сьогодні 10 Січня, приблизно о 12 годині дня, від нас відійшов унтерштурмфюрер дивізії Галичина пан Роман Колісник. Його місяць тому як діагнозували з Лукемією, вчора мав іти до лікара на повторний огляд. Я в абсолютному шоці, тільки два тиждні тому як приносив йому від форумчан вітальну картку, а три дні тому з ним розмовляв по телефоні - він до останнього був в позитивному настрою і сильним духом...

Для мене пан Роман був один з найкращих людей що я будь коли знав - завжди привітливий, доброзичливий, постійно в доброму гуморі, завжди готовий допомогти. Абсолютний джентельмен, високий, завжди підтягнутий і пунктуальний - взірець українського патріота і офіцера. Коли я з ним спілкувався - я ніколи не відчував барєру віку, він був настільки цікава і легка до розмови людина. Пан Роман був також до останнього активним в Українські громаді, він написав багато книжок, редагував дивізійний журнал Вісті Комбатанта і займався меценатством. Усе що він робив, було на славу Україні і Українські Ідеї.

Пан Роман был человеком высокой культуры, потрясающей глубины знаний и обладал отличной памятью. Он всегда помогал по вопросам относящимся к Дивизии.
Он всегда был и останется Украинским Патриотом, в полном смысле этого слова.
Вечная ему память...

It is with deep and profound sadness I have just learned of the death of Roman Kolisnyk on 10 January. Roman and I began our correspondence back in 1991 when he replied to my first letter to him. From then until the publication of my first book in 2002 he wrote me over 200 letters many of which ran to 6 pages or more. Our extensive correspondence on the Halychyna division covered every possible aspect of its formation, history and post war fate of its members. With the advent of the internet our prolific correspondence continued by email throughout my second study of the division and to give as an example in the final 5 year period from January 2010 until his last message on 29 December 2015, I received over 400 emails from him.


Roman was a very modest man who had a remarkable knowledge about the division. He was very generous with his time and in providing me with a great many contacts and new information. We shared a huge amount of data and worked on issues as diverse as the translation of individual German words to specific strategic and tactical developments. From the very outset I made a binding promise that in return for his help I would provide him with copies of every single document that I found and an exhaustive list of sources for every single piece of new information that I received to ensure the archives of the Brotherhood were fully up to date with my latest research.


We worked together closely on several projects including my first divisional history published in 2002, a history of the Division which he wrote and sent to me for editing in 2011 and most recently my 2 volume divisional history which is with the publishers and due for publication in 2016.


After 25 years of working with him it was only in the last 2 years that I finally reached the point where he was unable to assist any further on some specific issues and where my knowledge in some areas was occasionally equal to or greater than his.


I have acknowledged his contribution to my research in the foreword of my coming book stating “This book represents the culmination of the contributions of several individuals, none more so than Roman Kolisnyk, former officer and veteran of the Galician Division. His unsurpassed knowledge and unrivalled network of contacts has underpinned many areas of my research. I remain sincerely appreciative of his constant support and encouragement, wise counsel and constant enthusiasm”.


His loss is a bitter personal blow to me and to the unbroken spirit of Ukrainian nationalism that lives on. I consider it my privilege to have known and worked with such an inspired man who was a marvellous example of how we should all conduct ourselves and who was a real credit to his Ukrainian nation.

Сьогодні в 6.00 ранку Господь покликав до себе ще одного ветерана, члена Галицького Братства колишніх вояків 1-ої УД "Галичина" УНА Володимира Саламаху. Пан Володимир народився 22.08.1929 р. у с. Безброди Буського р-ну. В 1944 р. зголосився до «Юнацтва» протиповітряної оборони. Вишкіл проходив в Еґері (тепер Хеб, Чехія), Турі (Франція) та Ольденбурзі (Німеччина), вояк протилетунської військової частини. Перебував в англійському полоні. Утік і повернувся до Львова. 9.02.1946 р. заарештований та засуджений до 10 років позбавлення волі у радянських виправно-трудових таборах. Покарання відбував у Балхаші (Казахстан). Проживав у Львові. У співавторстві з братом Богданом написав спогади «У німецьких казармах і московських казематах гартувалася молодість наша».
