Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Back Bay Station demolition. Commuter rail and Amtrak service to the south was relocated to the Fairmount Branch from 1979 to 1987 during Southwest Corridor reconstruction to depress the elevated railroad embankment alignment through Roxbury and Jamaica Plain and relocate the elevated MBTA Orange Line from Washington Street. The new Back Bay Station would serve Amtrak, MBTA commuter rail and the Orange Line.
August 23, 1981, Dartmouth St, Boston.
