1) Supermarine Spitfire PR.IV at Agra, India 2) RAF Spitfire Mk IX, MA743 after it overturned landing at Canne in November 1944.
1) K9787, the first production Spitfire, which first flew in May 1938. After speed trials at Martlesham Heath, it was converted to a PR Mk III, and was lost in June 1941 when it failed to return from a photo-reconnaissance sortie over the Channel while operating with No 1 PRU. 2) P8088 ‘NK-K’, a Spitfire Mk IIA named, ‘Borough of Lambeth’ with the personal pilot’s name ‘Bette’ under the cockpit, the pilot being well-known author Alec Lumsden. This aircraft joined 39 MU in March 1941, soon operating with No 66 Squadron. The aircraft was destroyed in a crash in September 1944. 3) Unmarked Spitfire 9B, one of the two converted Mk Vs which were converted by Rolls-Royce, stripping them of everything not required for the role of high-level interception, lightening them by 450 lb each. The aircraft formed the beginning of the RAF’s High Altitude Flight at RAF Northolt in 1942.

Squadrons). Note Gleed's personal emblem, depicting "Figaro" the cat swatting a swastika, beneath the cockpit. During the Battle of Britain "Widge" Gleed flew with 87. Squdron.
