Кстати, на базе В-24 американцы производили летающие танкеры С-109. Заправку в воздухе они, конечно, не производили, но были способны быстро перебросить горючку туда, где в ней была нужда.

B-24 Liberator Bomber called, “The Phoenix Bird.” The plane was painted silver with a large red bird painted on the nose, coming out of fire. The aircraft was on display at the Academy Airshow. The plane also served as one of General Harmon’s personal airplanes. Other aircraft on display in the background.

The Brat почти сразу был передан RAF летом 1944, получил маркировку 6G-R и попал в 223ю эскадрилью.
Сбит 14 января 1945 года, весь экипаж погиб.
